Ceramic Coating for Motorcycles in St. Louis

Less cleaning. More riding.

Buddy from South County mine pulls up on his Harley outside the shop in High Ridge. Matte black, loud pipes, chrome all polished. He hops off and goes, “Bro, can you ceramic coat a bike? I’m tired of cleaning this thing every weekend.”

He’d just got back from a ride down 94 through Defiance and Augusta. Said bugs were stuck to the fairing, chain lube flung all over the swingarm, water spots on the tank. He was over it.

We told him yeah—ceramic coating for motorcycles is a real thing. And it makes a huge difference.

What Is Ceramic Coating for Motorcycles?

How ceramic coating works with your paint to repel debris.

Alright, so here’s how it works. Ceramic coating is a liquid that we apply to the paint, plastic, chrome, and sometimes even the wheels. It hardens up into a slick, clear layer that blocks dirt, grime, and UV rays from getting into the surface.

Once it cures, water slides right off. Bugs don’t stick as bad. Road grime wipes off way easier. And your paint? It keeps that deep look without getting chalky or scratched up.

Think of it like a clear raincoat for your bike. But better looking.

What’s Included in Motorcycle Ceramic Coating?

Not just the paint. We coat all kinds of stuff on your bike, depending how it’s built.

Here’s what we usually do:

  • Fuel tank

  • Side fairings

  • Front fender

  • Rear fender

  • Headlight and taillight lenses

  • Windscreen

  • Chrome trim and pipes

  • Engine covers and valve caps

  • Wheels (optional)

  • Seat plastics and hard bags (if you got ‘em)

We had a guy ride over from Tower Grove with a Ducati Panigale. Full gloss red. He didn’t want a single fingerprint on it. We coated the tank, plastics, and even the carbon fiber bits. Looked wild when the sun hit it.

How Long Does It Last?

Usually 3–7 years, depending on the product you pick and how often you ride. We offer a few levels:

  • 3-year for weekend warriors

  • 5-year pro-grade coatings with warranty

Riders who don’t put a ton of miles usually go with 3 years. That’s plenty for folks doing Sunday rides down through Eureka or out near Lake St. Louis.

Is It Safe for Bikes?

Yeah. But you gotta know what you’re doing.

We don’t just slop it on and hope for the best. Motorcycles have tight spaces, exposed parts, and delicate paint. Our crew’s trained to coat around gas caps, wires, heat shields, and all that.

We don’t spray anything. It’s all hand-applied with microfiber applicators. Every part gets cleaned and prepped first with a full decontamination. We even polish paint if needed to get the swirls out before coating.

How It Helps Motorcycles in St. Louis

Black motorcycle cleaned after a ceramic coating.

Riding in St. Louis means dealing with:

  • Summer humidity and bugs

  • Rock chips from I-64 and I-55

  • Salt and grime if you ride in winter

  • Dust from gravel roads in Jefferson County

  • Bird droppings in Forest Park parking lots

  • UV fading from long rides in the sun

Ceramic coating locks out all that stuff. It doesn’t stop rocks or scratches, but it helps keep your bike clean, shiny, and protected way longer.

We had a guy from O’Fallon who rode daily to work. His tank used to fade from the sun cause he parked outside all day. After we coated it, it stayed dark red for years. He was pumped.

This is the part riders love the most.

Once your bike’s coated, cleaning it gets way easier. No more scrubbing at bugs with a sponge. Just hose it off, wipe it with a microfiber, and go.

Chain lube still flings—ain’t no coating gonna stop that—but it won’t stick as bad. And your plastics won’t stain from road grime.

One of our regulars from Brentwood rides a Yamaha R6. After getting it coated, he told us, “I used to spend 2 hours cleaning after every ride. Now it’s like 15 minutes tops.”

Cleaning After It’s Coated

Can You Coat Exhaust Pipes?

Yes and no.

We can coat chrome tips, mufflers, and the parts that don’t get too hot. But some headers and pipes reach temps over 1000 degrees. That’ll burn off most coatings.

We’ll let you know what’s safe and what’s not when we see your setup. Harleys and cruisers with big chrome pipes? Usually no problem. Sport bikes with titanium headers? Gotta skip those.

Does It Work on Chrome?

Yeah, it works great. Chrome tends to spot easy and stain from water. Coating helps block that out and keeps the shine locked in.

Had a Road Glide from Des Peres in the shop last month. Full chrome front end. We coated it all, and the owner said it was the first time he’d gone a week without polishing it.

How Long Does It Take?

Most bikes take about 4 to 6 hours, depending on size and condition. We like to keep ‘em overnight if possible, so the coating cures better in a clean space.

You’ll drop it off, we’ll wash it, decontaminate the surface, polish the paint if needed, and apply the coating by hand. Then it needs to sit for a few hours. Some riders plan it before a rainy weekend or a trip outta town.

How Much Does Motorcycle Ceramic Coating Cost?

Here’s a rough idea:

  • 3-year package: $300–$400

  • 5-year pro-level: $500–$650

Helmet coatings start at $40
Add-ons like wheels or luggage vary depending on size

We’ll give you a clear quote when we see your ride. No surprises.

And honestly—it’s cheaper than paying for paint correction every year cause bugs tore up your fairing.

Can You Combine It With a Full Detail?

For sure. If your bike’s dirty, we’ll recommend a full motorcycle detail first. That includes:

  • Foam wash

  • Iron and tar removal

  • Engine degreasing

  • Chain clean + lube (if chain-driven)

  • Paint polishing

  • Wheel clean

  • Plastic trim restore

A rider from Creve Coeur brought in his Goldwing with years of gunk under the seat and around the tank. We detailed the whole bike, then ceramic coated everything but the tires and grips. He said it felt like getting a brand-new bike back.
